Cities and towns of Zimbabwe

 

Harare

Harare is a flavour of the Western World with its quality architecture and noisy traffic.As the capital - this is the nucleus of Zimbabwe,babbling with commerce and innovation.Flea Markets and street traders are a common sight together with an array of commuter omibuses!Most roads are one-ways in the city centre and parking space is prepaid for!The city is loaded with pubs,nightclubs,fast foods outlets and cinemas.The city's pride encompass The Harare Gardens,Botanic Gardens,Kopje,Mukuvisi Woodlands,Heroes' Acre and Epworth Balancing Rocks.

The world's largest tobacco auction floor is in Harare,peppering a heavy industry which include syringe manufacture and car assembly.Harare has a compact city centre,often crowed and hissing during day.Away from the action the city sprawl outward into both high and middle density residential areas classifying the working class,middle and wealthy.Unfortunately streets are often filled with the homeless and young entrepreneurs offering anything at traffic stops.At the moment,petrol funnel are on offer to coincide with the fuel shortage gripping the country!

 

Bulawayo

Bulawayo is the second largest city laying in the south west of the country.Known as Sky's by its supporters,Bulawayo was originally called Gu-Bulawayo.lt literally means "Place of slaughter".The city is a high flare of businesses with its international franchised businesses.Bulawayo is best known for its industries that has made it a commercial and industrial centre in Zimbabwe.

Most of its old buildings resemble mediaeval London and early 20th century American architecture.Most of Bulawayo's population lives north-west of the city-centre.Zimbabwe's trade Fair is held in the city.Interesting places to visit nearby are The Matopo's Hills and Matobo National Park.Bulawayo stands as the house of the worlds highest concentration of prehistoric paintings.

 

Gweru

Gweru is Zimbabwe's third-largest city and is situated somewhere near the centre of the country.The town has been growing of late and a new university is already in its territory.Zimbabwe's airforce has its main base laying on the out-skirts of the town.

The name Gweru is believed to have been a word explaining the steep and sloping surrounding areas.Overly Gweru is used as a goods marshalling centre with its good transport network!Natatale Ruins are found near-by!

 

Mutare

Mutare is Zimbabwe,s fourth-largest city laying in the Eastern Highlands near Mozambique.The town has moved sites and its origin was inspired by the hunt - for gold in Penhalonga.The town had to move to a new location as its population swelled living its old site which is known today as ;Old Mutare.Present Mutare is surrounded by mountains and is in a valley like position.

The town is famous for its good scenery and palm-lined main streets.Interesting places to visit is the Mutare Heights , Cecil Kop Reserve and near-by Penhalonga,Vumba and Nyanga!Old Mutare now has a university built by the Methodist Church.This might as well be the centre of Africa's education as the university is known simply as Africa University!
