Victoria Falls  

Victoria Falls is located in the Northwest corner of Zimbabwe,right at the border with Zambia. The locals call the falls Mosi oa tunya translated as : smoke that thunders . The falls as known to breath roaring , earth-trembling fury of power as 20 000 cubic litres of water thunder per minute . In length the falls are 1708 m . The falls are in three parts,there is what is known as the Cataract Island and the Devils Cateract and the main falls of course .The Main falls are renown for producing a spray and rain bowed sunlight . The surrounding rain forest has breeds of birds and an ever green environment.  

 

Lake Kariba  

Lake Kariba is a man-made dam stretching 282 km long. lt stands to be the third-largest in Africa and is the main source of hydroelectricity to Zimbabwe.The walls of the dam stand 579m long and 128m high.Kariba has been associated with the River God,Nyaminyami. The mythical god is said to have been enraged by the displacement of his people which led to the difficulties associated with the building of the dam .Around 80 people lost their lives when storms from the Zambezi collapsed Kariba while subsequent soaring temperatures forced workers to hose their tools in cooling buckets during construction.  

 

Great Zimbabwe  

The country was named after these ruins located in Masvingo. Masvingo its self means enclosure which is what Great Zimbabwe is!The walls of these enclosure were build with great accuracy as no mortar was used. They stand at a height of 11 metres and a circumference of 243 metres.Great Zimbabwe represents fine African architecture which has allowed the ruins to stand for at least 600 years. There are small spaces left below the walls to allow expansion of the bricks in times of hot temperatures. Maybe , just maybe Africans found the theory of expansion before anyone in the world.  

 

Eastern Highlands  

lf mountain forests scenery interest you, then the Eastern Highlands is the place to be!The Eastern Highlands cover south east of Zimbabwe. Notable vicinities of the Highlands include Nyangani Mountain,Nyanga National Park,Ziwa Ruins,Pungwe gorge,Mutarazi Falls,Vumba Botanical Gardens,Chimanimani National Park and Hot Springs. Nyangani Mountain is Zimbabwe's highest mountain standing at a height of 2593 metres. There is much hype about the mountains ability to initiate the disappearance of those with foul mouths against it or its local people!Nyanga National Park is known for its forests,waterfall and rivers!Pungwe Gorge is 10 kilometres and is rich in overhead orchids and plantations. Mutarazi Falls stands to be the highest falls in Africa at 762 metres.  

 

Hwange National Park  

This park is situated in the Southeast of the country only about 100 away from Victoria Falls. Hwange is also the home of coal produce for Zimbabwe. The park houses giraffes,buffalo's,zebra,giraffes and many animals. lt has the highest number of the white rhino. Hwange National Park is the largest game sanctuary in Zimbabwe
